Sheep jumping

The Lamb National sheep racing makes an inaugural debut at the Messingham Show on Sunday 5 June.

An event for all the family sees Herdwick sheep racing in their individual colours and  jumping over fences. The race is the brainchild of Bob Hogg and Tom Hogg renowned for their high class sheep dog displays all over the UK.

The amusing commentary covers the initial parade where the runners and riders with names such as ‘Red Ram’ and ‘No Ewe Turns’ will compete around the course and jump the fences. The event featured on the BBC’s Countryfile a few years ago (Youtube clip).
