Starting on 4 May we’re pleased to launch our second ‘Build a Scarecrow’ competition.
We’re keen to see individual families and local groups or clubs enter this fun competition to build the best scarecrow. Entries are welcome from all.
Whatever skills and materials you have to hand will be eligible. As long as the end result fulfils the basic criteria of a scarecrow, one that would scare off birds from raiding the crops!
Please build and display your scarecrow in your garden ideally showing a sign pointing towards the showground. Be as creative as you like.
Once it’s done, please take a photo and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org or share it on the Messingham Show Facebook page. Complete your entry form below and you’ve until 31 May to enter your scarecrow.
We’re inviting some entries to bring your scarecrow between 9am and 10am on 2 June down to the Showground on Holme Lane.
There will be just two categories of best group / club entry displayed on the Showground and individual residents with all photo entries on a board. Judging will be led by the Mayor of North Lincolnshire with the winners announced in Ring three. BBC Radio Humberside will be featuring the competition as they broadcast live on the day.
We hope you have great fun building your scarecrow and look forward to seeing them. In each category there will be prizes/rosettes for first, second and third places.
