Growing Messingham Show requires new layout

This year’s 112th Show will see a brand-new layout to accommodate the growing public attendance. We’ve ensured the safe separation of horses from the viewing public and put in place solid safety barriers.

You’ll see from the new layout the separation of vehicles, horses and people. We believe it will enhance the experience for all people attending the Show.

As a result of the new layout, we have regrettably this year postponed some horse classes. We will concentrate on British show jumping, gymkhana games and mounted fancy dress.

It was a difficult decision to take because of the limited opportunity to test the revised layout. And to ensure health and safety remains a priority.

The postponement will allow the Show Committee to evaluate the new layout and determine whether it works. We hopefully can reinstate the postponed classes at future shows.

We appreciate this may be a disappointment to competitors of the postponed classes, but hope you can support this new approach. We’re planning to secure the Show’s future by making these changes.

A new ‘horse free’ dedicated display ring has been created due to popular demand. It will see the return of Lamb National sheep racing and accommodate local groups giving displays throughout the day.

Thanks John, yes no heavy horses this year as we’re trying a new layout. If it works hopefully they’ll be back in future years.

    • This is such a shame same for the carriage driving and in hand showing don’t know why they can not put vintage cars and fair ground and stalls in the field next door where the car park is this would make sence . Please re think x

Thanks Gill for your suggestion. Unfortunately the field next door is owned by a farmer and not suitable for any displays. It’s disappointing but hopefully the new layout will be a success and we can have more show jumping/carriages/heavy horses in 2018.
